Computer & Information Technology (Certificate Level)
Aims:
This syllabus aims to provide students with an opportunity to:
- Study modern methods of information processing, their applications and implications;
- Understand the basic organization of a computer;
- Develop problem solving skills and programming techniques.
Objectives
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to acquire:
- Knowledge of computer applications in a wide range of activities;
- Knowledge of the basic features of common computer applications software packages;
- Awareness of the social impacts of computer applications;
- Understanding of common computing terminology;
- Understanding of the principles of operation of computer systems and the interrelationship between the hardware and software components in a computer system;
- Knowledge of computer programming, problem solving procedures and programming techniques;
