PHYSICS

Physics (Certificate Level)

Quantitative study of the laws of nature.

Main topics include :

  1. Heat - the study of energy movement due to a temperature difference
  2. Mechanics - the study of force, movement and mechanical energy.
  3. Wave motion - the study of the properties of wave (water wave and light), mirrors and lenses as applications of light.
  4. Electricity and Magnetism - the study of electric current, voltage, electrical energy, magnets, motors and generators.
  5. Atomic physics - the study of the nucleus radioactive elements and atomic energy

Related topics in Integrated Science

  1. Energy (F.1)
  2. Making use of electricity (F.2)
  3. Space travel (F.2)
  4. Heat (F.3)

Students are required to understand physics concepts, and to apply them in solving problems that are almost new.

Students are required to design experiments, and to carry out experiments so that physical laws could be investigated.

Students taking Physics should

  1. be a person who like to ask ¡¥why¡¦.
  2. be able to organize and present data in a way that is meaningful to other people;
  3. be able to explain new ideas to people who knows little about your subject;
  4. feel comfortable with Mathematics and Integrated Science; and have above average results in the 2 subjects.
