SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Science and Technology (Certificate Level)
- Understand the nature and development of science and technology, and how they interact with each other in their progress, and with society and vice versa;
- Develop critical and enquiring minds through understanding and appraising the strength and limitation of science and technology;
- Consider cultural, social, economic political and ethical issues in selected areas of science and technology that are of interest, importance and relevance to daily life;
- Acquire the skills and knowledge to undertake self-learning in science and technology;
- Develop their own value judgments regarding how scientific and technological developments should be used to improve their personal lives and to enable them to cope with a rapidly changing world so as to avoid any pitfalls.
Requirements:
- Critical thinking and an enquiring attitude toward areas of science and technology;
- Eagerness to communicate and share ideas and views on science, technology and society issues with others;
- Interest in self-study since Independent Study (IS) is a part of the course requirements.
