SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Science and Technology (Certificate Level)

  1. Understand the nature and development of science and technology, and how they interact with each other in their progress, and with society and vice versa;
  2. Develop critical and enquiring minds through understanding and appraising the strength and limitation of science and technology;
  3. Consider cultural, social, economic political and ethical issues in selected areas of science and technology that are of interest, importance and relevance to daily life;
  4. Acquire the skills and knowledge to undertake self-learning in science and technology;
  5. Develop their own value judgments regarding how scientific and technological developments should be used to improve their personal lives and to enable them to cope with a rapidly changing world so as to avoid any pitfalls.

Requirements:

  • Critical thinking and an enquiring attitude toward areas of science and technology;
  • Eagerness to communicate and share ideas and views on science, technology and society issues with others;
  • Interest in self-study since Independent Study (IS) is a part of the course requirements.
