Sport Climbing Fun Day

To provide students an opportunity to experience the fun of playing sports climbing, school organized Sports Climbing Fun Day for F.1 classes this academic year.

Special Olympic swimming gala

To provide our students with valuable experience in interacting with persons with intellectual disabilities, the Sports Association invited eighty students from F.1 to F.4, to be helpers of the Hong Kong Special Olympic Regional Swimming Gala in Shing Mun Valley Swimming pool this past academic year.

Through the activities, our students obtained a more comprehensive understanding of persons with intellectual disabilities and Special Olympics. In this way, our students’ attitudes towards persons with intellectual disabilities grew more positive – keeping in line with our school’s motto of ‘Service in Action.

The 2nd runner-up goes to 3C which has finished the race in 2 minutes 54 seconds,

The 1st runner-up goes to 3Ewhich has finished the race in 2 minutes 12 seconds,

The champion is 3D which has finished the race in 2 minutes 7 seconds.

本校中文辯論隊剛於第九屆香港校際網上實時埠際辯論比賽中,勇奪滬港中學組普通話總決賽總冠軍,及於京省港中學組普通話決賽和中學組普通話初賽中勝出,中三甲劉雪瑩同學更獲得最佳辯論員,成績令人鼓舞。

中文話劇 - 龍籠

歷年來,中文戲劇學會的同學都會把握每次演出的機會,與同學分享他們的精心傑作。而今年,他們將於五月三十一日,於學校禮堂為同學呈獻出一齣由他們自編、自導、自演的話劇──龍籠。

透過這次的話劇,除了希望同學們能更深入認識何謂「中文戲劇」外,還帶出了不少發人深省的訊息──即使家境再貧困,也不能夠剝削窮人當「龍」的權利!另外,是劇亦有不少溫馨場面,希望讓同學們明白到「家人永遠是最好的」。

Inter-school volleyball competition prize presentation

Our school has been invited by the Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation to organize the Prize presentation day for the Inter-school Volleyball Championship on 18th of May in our school. 322 students from 30 schools participated in this meaningful event. Congratulations to the winning schools!

Our school teams have achieved brilliant results in the inter-school Volleyball Competition this year. A grade has won the 1st runner-up, B grade and C grade both have won the championship. Our school, therefore, got the girls overall champion in Division III (K2) and will be promoted to Division II in the year 2010-2011.

City Hunting

On 15/5/2010, some of our F.4 and F.6 students have participated in a joint school activity called ‘Joint School City Hunting’ organized by the Student Associations of 4 different schools, including Tak Oi Secondary School, Kwun Tong Maryknoll College , CNEC Christian College and our school. The activity had provided a chance for our students to get familiar with Hong Kong‘s local culture through an interesting way. Students can also learn to develop team spirit through this exciting and fun activity.

中文科講座 –「新聞最前線」

新聞工作者柳俊江先生於2010年5月14日到校擔任「新聞最前線」的講者,為同學講解新聞寫作要注意的地方及分享其採訪經驗。

柳俊江先生首先鼓勵同學積極向他發問,強調即時的答問形式更有助推動相互交流,期望同學能從嶄新的思考角度探討時下新聞的價值。最後,校長王景華博士致送記念品給柳俊江先生,感謝他百忙中能夠抽空到校擔任講者。同學在是次講座後,除了對新聞工作有更深的認識外,更明白關懷社會的重要。

Straw Competition 2010 – The CityUniversity of Hong Kong

Our F.3 and F.4 students have attended the straw competition held by the Physics Society of The City University of Hong Kong. The objective is to launch a straw as far as possible with the construction of a projector. Our students have prepared this competition for nearly a week time and they have successfully project a straw up to around 9 meters in the competition and 22.5 meters during the trial in the school.

18位中四及中六的同學於22-25/4參加了由香港新一代文化協會主辦—河源惠州珠三角考察體驗團,深入了解當代中國的發展,擴闊視野,全面認識中國國情。

Hong Kong Secondary Schools Model United Nations Conference 2010 (HKSSMUNC)

Duration: 2-4 April 2010

Venue: Youth Square

HKMUNC is a registered non-profit making organization. It is established in 2005, aims at promoting MUN culture in the region, promoting world peace through understanding and cooperation between cultures and arousing youth attention on global issues. The MUNC conference is held annually for secondary school students in Hong Kong since its establishment. Under this simulated UN environment, the SSMUN delegates act as their country’s ambassador to the UN, and discuss world issues like human rights, terrorism and sustainable development.

This year, we have seven F.4 students joining the MUNC. They all reflected that it was a memorable learning experience.

The Paulinian Ambassador Program (2009-2010)

In order to encourage students to live out the spirit of St Paul’s “All things to all people” and echo with the theme of 2009-2010 ‘Perseverance in Service’, our school had organized the Paulinian Ambassador Program this year. We aim at helping our students to organize and lead activities for the primary school students. In November, we visited the four nearby primary schools in Lam Tin, presenting our F.1 Choral Speaking performances and playing English poetry games with them. In December, we had six F.4 Paulinian Ambassadors attended the Sir TL Yang English Ambassador Outreach gathering, learning from the ambassadors from other schools. In March, we invited the primary school students coming to our school to view our F.1 English drama “Doors’ and enjoyed the making of pop-up cards with our F.4 students. Both the primary school teachers and students showed appreciation and interests in our programs. Further activities would be planned for the coming year, we would also extend to other primary schools in the district.

Nov 2009 – Mar 2010 Service of Inclusive activity porgram

30 students from F. 3, 4 have completed the “Inclusive Activity Program” with CaritasLokJunSchool for students with intellectual disabilities. The program was conducted by the Hong Kong Baptist University CIE Wellness Promotion Centre (the WPC). An on-site training on leading participants with intellectual disabilities will be given by the Game counselors to our student volunteers during the training program. Students learned a lot of how to communicate and help those participants playing in the games form the training program.

Inter - class Volleyball competition 2009 - 2010

The inter-class volleyball competition Junior section (F.2 - F.4) ended successfully on 16th March. The second runner-up goes to 4C. The 1st runner-up goes to 4E. The champion goes to 4D. Congratulations!

For inter-class volleyball competition senior section, F.7B won the champion and 5A was the first runner up and 5D was the 2nd runner up.

Inter-school Volleyball competition 2009-2010

Our volleyball teams have achieved brilliant results in the inter-school Volleyball Competition this year. A grade has won the 1st runner-up, B grade and C grade both have won the championship. Our school, therefore, got the overall champion in this Division and will be promoted to Division II in the year 2010-2011. Our school has been invited by the Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation to organize the Prize presentation day for the Inter-school Volleyball Championship. It will be on 18th of May at 3-6 p.m in our school hall. All students are welcome to participate in this meaningful event and show your support to our school team. We will continue to do our best in the coming years.

English Drama workshop and Inter-school Drama Festival (English Section) 2009 - 2010

“BTE - Back to Earth’ is our school’s production for the Inter-school Drama Festival English section this year. It is a drama written and performed by our F.4 students. According to Kathy Sun, one of the main characters of the drama, they spent 6 months of hard work in setting up the theme, writing the script, choosing the music and lighting, blocking the scenes. Both the actresses and the backstage helpers contributed their best to this valuable “Other Learning Experience”!

Mr. Yau Shing-mu visit

On 8th March 2010, Mr Yau Shing-mu, the Under Secretary of Transport and Housing Department visited the school and had a very joyful time with our Forms 4 and 6 schoolmates. The school has held a talk for Forms 4 and 6 schoolmates to create a chance of communication to Mr Yau. During the talk, Mr Yau has introduced the project of the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link to enhance the awareness of our schoolmates. Our schoolmates then participated actively in asking questions about Mr Yau’s job nature and the Express Rail Link Project, and Mr Yau also asked us questions about the opinion of the project, this encouraged the conversation between Mr Yau and us. We have had a great time for sharing our opinions and learned a lot from Mr Yau.

A.S. Watson group Hong Kong student sports award

The "A.S. Watson group Hong Kong student sports awards" aims to provide recognization and encouragement annually through school nominations. Each school is encouraged to nominate one student exhibiting outstanding performance or greate potential. Our student, 7A Cherry Cheng, demonstrated passion and good conduct in sport was nominated in this award.

Feb 2010 Services in Special Olympic sports day

To provide our students with valuable experience in interacting with persons with intellectual disabilities, the Sports Association invited ninety students from F.2 to F.4, to be helpers of the Hong Kong Special Olympic Regional Athletic Meets in Wai Chai, Sai Kung and Tai Po this past academic year.

On 27/2/2010, 20 students from CYC holded a stall in a carnival for the elderly. The main theme is giving some riddles written on lantern to let elderly to guess.

On 24 - 25/2/2010, Our F.4B students has joined the "Residential Geography Field Study Camp" at Caritas Chan Chun Ha Field Study Centre. The field trip is highly relevant to HKDSE geography syllabus and aim to arouse student's interest on woodland and coastal lanscape.

40th Anniversary Thanksgiving Mass & Opening Ceremony of Photo Exhibition

 The 40th Anniversary Thanksgiving Mass & Opening Ceremony of the Photo Exhibition was held on 25/01/2010 in our school hall. Rev. Father Pierre Lam Minh, MEP, Vicar General, Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong, celebrated the Mass, which marked the beginning of the Anniversary Celebration. Dr. K. Wong, our Principal, delivered the welcome address, which was followed by inspiring speeches from Rev. Sister Joanna, our Supervisor, and Rev. Sister Pauline, our Founding Principal and Former Supervisor.

Rev. Sister Joanna then presented staff members who have served the school for 10 years or more with the Long Service Award, which proved to be one of the highlights of the event.Our honoured guests and School Managers officiated the Opening of the Photo Exhibition.It was followed by the School History Slide Show, which aptly introduced St Paul’s 40-year history.

Our F.1 students then presented the audience with their rendition of Doorways, a thought-provoking drama performance. The Ceremony concluded with a viewing of the Photo Exhibition – an all-out effort by students and teachers – in the school’s Covered Playground by our honoured guests, teachers, parents and students.

Athletic Meet 2009 - 2010

This year, our athletic meet was held in Kowloon Bay Sports ground. We have invited Ms. Hay Wood Ip, Intership coordinator of the Bachelor of Social Science Sport and Recreation Leadership Program at the Hong Kong Baptist University as our Guest of Honour.

The Athletic meet was successfully carried out and end with the special event -- Invitation Relay of Alumni, Past Student, teachers and current students. The overall champion was Amber house. Congratulation!

F.1 Workshop on Study Skills and Time Management

The workshop is held for all F.1 students by Edvenue Limited focused on how to set priority of the work need to be done and timetabling on 4 Nov. Students had a chance to reflect and plan their work according to the suggested format. Similar talk had also been held to parents on the annual meeting of the parent-teacher association in October.

Our F.7 Geography Students have joined in a residential field study camp in Ho Koon Astromomical centre from 19/10/2009 to 20/10/2009 and undergo two field work studies on stream pollution and rural landscape.

中文科活動日 2009 - 2010

一年一度舉辦的中文科活動日,參與班級包括中一至中四、中六。

中文活動日創始之時,形式主要是詩詞集誦為主。同學透過對作者、時代背景的理解,深入賞析詩詞,加上聲情的配合,在台上集體朗誦,務求讓觀眾感受到中國古典詩詞之美。

隨著課程改革的開展,以發展同學綜合的讀寫聽說能力及多元化的語文能力為主線,各級各有不同的活動形式,中一「詩詞集誦」(冠軍: 中一戊)、中二「普通話詩詞、散文集誦」(冠軍及梁鳳貞杯得主: 中二戊)、中三「舊曲新詞創作比賽」(冠軍:中三丁)、中四「小說改編劇」(冠軍:中四戊)、中六「演講比賽」(冠軍: 中六丙):。

SA Election 2009 - 2010

The SA election is held annually for students to elect their own preferred cabinet to serve the whole school. There were three cabinets running the SA election, Aspire, MVP and Unity. After voting, Aspire won and became the selected committee for the SA in 2009 - 2010.
